Who We Are

Bristol Raceway Ministries

For more than 32 years, our organization has been faithfully ministering to race fans attending events at Bristol Motor Speedway. We provide spiritual care, emotional support, and hope to those who need it. Whether it's someone asking for directions, a staff member who may need encouragement, or a family facing an unexpected crisis, our volunteers are there to help. We believe that faith is lived out through compassion and service to others.

We are continually blessed with volunteers who selflessly give their time to serve others. Some distribute hundreds of New Testament Bibles, while others provide assistance to individuals with mobility challenges or offer prayer to strangers seeking hope in Jesus. We embrace every chance to serve, knowing that in moments of need, people can truly encounter God's love and grace.

Our Mission and Purpose

When local churches and other ministries partner with us, they step beyond the typical church walls to serve in a truly unique way. Racing events attract thousands of people from diverse backgrounds, creating opportunities to share God’s love with those who may not otherwise encounter it.

By meeting people where they are, both physically and spiritually, we sow seeds of faith and eternal hope. Some seeds will take root immediately, while others may grow over time. Our volunteers trust that every interaction is part of a greater plan. Their calling is simply to show up, serve faithfully, and let God work through them.

Our mission is rooted in biblical teachings that define our purpose and direct our work. These guiding principles strengthen our commitment to serving in this unique environment.

  • Fellowship: We bring believers together to encourage and uplift one another. Through shared experiences and effective outreach, we cultivate lasting friendships that deepen our faith and strengthen our mission.
  • Pastoral Care: Many of the people we engage with are far from home or lack a church community. We provide spiritual support by hosting chapel services, officiating weddings, and memorial services, and offering a compassionate presence for those in need of comfort and prayer.
  • Evangelism: A racetrack setting creates a unique opportunity to share the Gospel in a space where people feel comfortable. By meeting people where they are, we introduce them to the hope and truth of Jesus in a way that resonates with their lives.
  • Service: As followers of Christ, we are called to serve with humility and compassion. Whether assisting race fans, praying with those in need, or collaborating with other ministries, we strive to reflect Christ’s love in every act of service.

How to get involved

The easiest way to get involved with our ministry is by baking and donating homemade cookies. Handing out cookies is one of the simplest yet most impactful ways we connect with race fans. It’s incredible how such a small gesture can spark meaningful conversations, often opening doors to share the gospel. For details on donating homemade cookies, get a copy of our Cookie Information Sheet.

We’re also always looking for volunteers to serve at our ministry tents during the NASCAR races. At these tents, we welcome prayer requests, hand out New Testament Bibles and other Christian literature, and share those irresistible homemade cookies. Additionally, we’re in need of golf cart drivers to assist individuals with mobility challenges, helping them navigate the track property during NASCAR races and other events throughout the year too.

For larger church groups, we offer opportunities to sponsor a nearby campground during the NASCAR races. This allows you to set up your own ministry tent in a campground and share the gospel with even more people.

Whether you’re volunteering for the first time or part of a group that returns year after year, each person plays a vital role in positively impacting the lives of others.

And by the way, you don't need to be a NASCAR fan to volunteer. All you need is a heart for serving others, a willingness to share God’s love, and a little spare time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Race weekends are exciting, but they also bring plenty of questions. To make things easier, we’ve put together answers to the ones we hear most often. If you still need help, just reach out; we’re happy to assist.

Our FAQs are split into two sections: one for guests attending the event and another for volunteers. This way, you can quickly find the information that’s most relevant to you.

Our campground and trackside ministry tents host chapel services. They take place on Sunday during the Spring race and Saturday during the Fall race. Click the location links below for directions on your mobile phone.

Yes, our chaplains, who are ordained pastors, can perform weddings during race events. We work with Bristol Motor Speedway to coordinate the ceremony and will do our best to accommodate special requests. Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you plan to get married during an event. If you need a marriage license, visit the Sullivan County Clerks website.

Yes. There are no state restrictions on who can conduct a memorial service for spreading a loved one’s cremains. We work with Bristol Motor Speedway to coordinate these services and will do our best to honor special requests. If you’d like to hold a service during an event, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.

No, we cannot loan or rent golf carts due to insurance restrictions. However, we do offer golf cart shuttle services for local events in exchange for a donation to our ministry. Contact us for more details.

For safety reasons, all shuttle and tram services pause for up to an hour after the event ends. This allows fans to walk safely to parking lots before vehicles start moving. If you need assistance, visit the ADA Accessible information booths at Gate 6 or Gate 17 to wait for a shuttle. Once track officials allow movement, we prioritize passengers at ADA booths before resuming other pickups.

Yes! Our focus isn’t on the race itself, but on serving and assisting guests. Many of our volunteers are so engaged in their work that they hardly notice what’s happening on the track.

Yes! Our volunteer opportunities are flexible, and we’ll work with your availability.

When you sign up, we’ll send detailed instructions on where to park, check in, and what to expect. If needed, we can also give you a tour of the facility before or after orientation.

Yes. Before the race, we’ll schedule you for an orientation class to explain our ministry and how we serve at the track. When you arrive for your shift, you’ll get a short tour, and we’ll pair you with an experienced volunteer to help you feel comfortable.

We encourage volunteers to sign up with friends; it makes the experience even better! Children are welcome, but race weekends can be busy, and younger ones may get restless. If you’d like to bring a child, talk with our volunteer coordinator for guidance.

Our ministry partners share God's hope in Christ at racetracks all across the United States. Here are just a few of them.
